Abstract

One of the local community-based economic development ideas that has been widely adopted in many nations is the creation of tourist villages. The empowerment of the local community must be considered in addition to the tourism component when developing tourism villages. Community development, which seeks to maximize local resources and boost community involvement in development, is the approach utilized in the creation of tourism communities. Tour guidance training is one of the important strategies in the development of tourism villages based on community participation. The results showed that the training which included basic guidance technique materials, handling group guests, interpretation of local culture, and preparation of tour packages was able to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of participants in guiding tourists professionally. In addition, this training triggered the growth of local initiatives in designing tourism products based on nature and culture typical of Petak Village. The active involvement of Karang Taruna also creates a network of cooperation between village stakeholders and strengthens the role of the young generation as a driver of the local creative economy. This training not only increases the attractiveness of village tourism but also encourages community independence in managing and marketing sustainable tourism potential. Thus, tour guide training is an important instrument in realizing a competitive and community-based tourism village.
