Abstract

Tourism is a major driver of prosperity in Indonesia, but the COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges to the sector. Bali, as a leading tourist destination, has implemented the concept of tourism villages, which brings both opportunities and challenges, particularly in terms of human resource readiness. Academics play a crucial role in enhancing human resources in the tourism sector through education, training, research, and innovation aimed at improving service quality and sustainability. This community engagement program focused on disseminating knowledge about tourism management in Belumbang Village. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of various aspects of tourism. The success of the program can be attributed to careful planning, active participation, sufficient resources, strong leadership support, and a conducive community environment. The active role of the village head in encouraging and motivating community participation also contributed significantly to the program’s effectiveness. Continuous training and awareness initiatives are essential for the development of community-based tourism, while further efforts may include advanced training, effective marketing strategies, and sustained commitment to managing tourism in Belumbang Village sustainably. Community-based tourism holds great potential to revitalize Bali’s tourism sector, and the synergy between academic involvement and community participation provides a strong foundation for sustainable tourism development.
